Default Verizon Programming

Verizon's Programming is making me consider walking away. They keep adding 24/7 Religious programming channels and neo-Nazi (hard right-wing) programming. I am in Manhattan and do not want a channel lineup better suited for Alabama or Mississippi.

I am pretty much at my tolerance limit.

Out of curiosity, do you have some examples of those channels?

The Blaze, NEWSY, Newsmax, OAN, Fox Business, Fox News. Adding together all channels witrh Fox or Fx (or Fxx) in their name, like 10 of them, you might think that Rupert Murdoch is the major stockholder in Verizon.

If I want any left leaning broadcasts I have to go to wade through local Public Access for a couple snippets.

I don't know if Spectrum/Time Warner (my only cable alternative) is any more balanced but I think I am ready to give them a try.

You for sure need to switch!

If I want left leaning broadcasts, I need only tune to ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, CNN, BBC-America, or dozens & dozens of others.

Give Spectrum/TWC a try. I'd bet they provide most of those channels included in your subscription.

Best to check/verify with them:
https://www.spectrum.com/packages.html

If you seek "left leaning" material... subscribe to Rolling Stone magazine.

Rick,

Are there any networks you consider centrist?

Not directed towards me, but the only ones I can think of just now are CNN(sometimes) and CNBC. I generally don't watch PBS for news, but I do think they at least try to be neutral for the sake of appearance, if for nothing else. I watch Washington Week, which has always been pretty good.

Oh and that Jimmy Swaggart station (Ch 519?). Religious bigotry 24/7. singing and begging for money with 30 year rebroadcasts of this jackass.

That kind of crap is for tent meetings in Louisiana, not Verizon cable. JMHO

I watched a "sermon" of his over the holidays in the middle of the night over the holidays when I couldn't sleep. It was on Comcast like I get, but I don't get the channel. I won't worry about it. I know DirectTV has a Jehovah's Witness channel.

My Comcast package includes everything I would want to watch and more. Plus I have subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Between that and anything else I might do, I'm never bored.

Yaaaay for Verizon. They dumped THE BLAZE Network. FInally a tiny bit of balanced sanity. That's ONE Neo-Nazi channel down and a dozen more to go.

I had never heard of the Blaze channel, but it's Glenn Beck, and he's not a Nazi. If you want left-leaning, check MSNBC. Probably stay away from CNBC. Even though several of their commentators are liberal, as long as they are making money from a given policy they're not going to complain about whoever is responsible for it. CNN used to be a little more fair and balanced, but becoming less so.
