Default Extending a Fios install to another room

Hello,

I have Verizon Fios and it looks like I have an SC fiber optic cable coming through the wall into my office - I have access to the point this cable originates. It would be ideal if I could get a longer piece of that cable and just run it straight from the box (about the size of a clunky smartphone) into the ceiling and across the room and drop it down to where I want it - where router etc. and electric would be. Is this possible? Can I get a piece of what looks like SC cable that long?

I read a thread here on coax, I'm hoping not to have to deal with that. I'd like all the equipment at the termination point so I can deal with it there. If I leave it where it is I have to wait until the room is vacant to do and work/restart/etc. on it.

Thanks in advance

Here yah go.

All you need to do is match up the cable and connectors (one male one female) you have and the exact length you need and your set.

Thank you for the kind reply!

But I am having a little trouble.
1) the couplers don't seem to unlock
2) I can be sure which cable it is because of #1

So question: Can I just leave this box and use a longer ethernet cable to move the other boxes the 30 feet I need to go?
Are there different pin combos on e-net cables I need to worry about? I have had this happen before but on special installs...

thanks very much!

Hummmm if the connectors do not unlock then only the fiber supplier company's tech is the only one that can unlock them. (special tool from Verizon)

And yes the CAT5/6 cable can be extended (replaced) several hundred feet if needed, they all have the same standard pin connections, just be sure it's a CAT5 or CAT6 LAN 8 pin cable and not a phone cable.

There are two types of LAN cables, one is the most common, and the other is a reverse connection, this is not so common.

You can find the most common one at most hardware or electronic stores.

If you have multiple devices that need a LAN connection and they will be at the same location then all you need is to extend (replace) one CAT 5/6 cable from the FIOS modem and use a Ethernet switch at the other end, you can get 4, 8 or 16 way switches

A switch like this one will work just fine.
https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Ether...V6ZVH9SBX0M7MM

It is a 5 port switch, this has one input to 4 outputs.
