Default Do I Need New HDMI Cables for 4K UHD TV?

Hello everyone,

I'll be replacing my Sony 52" LED TV with a new OLED 4K UHD TV within the next few months. I have good HDMI cables on it right now, but I want to know if the newer OLED 4K UHD televisions require a higher grade of HDMI cables (if there is such a thing). Current TV is wall mounted and our seating area is 9'-10' away.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Michael

What's a "good" cable? Is it Certified Premium High Speed?
What is the distance from 4K source to TV?
Typically, any HDMI cable over 25' becomes a problem with 4K.

Thanks for the response.

When I bought my Sony about 5 years ago, I purchased the best HDMI cables that Best Buy had at the time. Don't know for certain if they are Certified Premium High Speed. The distance from the 4K source to the TV will be about 4'.

No, you don't need new HDMI cables, if they are 4 years old they should work just fine at 4 feet from the 4K modulator to the TV.

New 4K HDMI cables are a big hype, just like Digital TV antennas, the old ones will work just the same.

I think if your HDMI cables are rated at 18Gbps, that is good.
Which HDMI cable should you buy?
