Default Leaving ATT U-Verse

Our local CBS station, is going through contract negotiations with ATT U-Verse and cannot reach price agreement with them. I had been in e-mail communications with Morgan Murphy Media's COO, the past couple days. He did some sharing with me. Yesterday, they stop broadcasting to us U-Verse customers as have not been able to reach a price contract agreement with ATT U-Verse. He did say they have a multi agreement with Spectrum Cable and that ATT DIRECTV was and had been okay, every year with contract talks.

This also happened in 2017 at the same time period, and we were w/o local CBS station for 5 weeks. I was prepared to switch to DIRECTV and continue to have recording capabilities.

My wife is a huge CBS day and night time program recorder. Plus, she is a huge football fan, especially with the play-offs going on right now. Plus, U-Verse had removed the NFL network from their regular programing, a few months back.

So, ATT DIRECTV, is coming tomorrow, Friday, to install their wireless equipment. My wife could not be more happier, having CBS LOCAL back on Line.

ATT U-Verse had been most accommodating over the past 8 years, but only have a small market share, compared to the other cable providers. We will see over the next 12 months, how DIRECTV performs. Then negotiate with them over renewal or not.

Can you receive the local CBS station over the air??? If so then an outdoor TV antenna may help, the only drawback would be the loss of off air recording.

But there are ways around that by using a PC with a TV card in it, you can record TV to the PC's hard drive with special software, or if the PC has Windows media center on it.

There are several other ways to record off air TV, do a google on it.

True, but wife unable to record her day and night shows, with TV antenna. Option 2, yes, but we don't want to be bothered with that arrangement. She just wants to flip channels on the TV. Simplicity, like me. Other options, not an option....long story short, coupled with recording aspects with additional cost[s].

By switching and negotiating with ATT DIRECTV, it will be $10.00 more a month for the next 12 months. We can handle that and perhaps not worry about it next year at this time.

I have also found local TV on an internet enabled TV (Roku) better the an off air or satellite solution.(thinking about dropping all satellite service as it's too expensive)

I can find most every local station in my area on my Roku TV, and watch the past or live programming at any time, the monthly charge for the service is far below any service from DTV or cable.

I can also get 4K direct service on some of the newer movies (Amazon Prime and others) without any type of up-scaling through a satellite or cable receiver.
