Default Playoff games 5.1?????

Is it going to be like the bowl games and say it's 5.1 but actually just front 2 speakers working? That would suck! Pregame says it's 5.1 and my receiver says it's 5.1 but audio only coming from front 2 speakers.

Well, I guess from what I've researched on other forums, the first game is being done by the former ESPN Sunday night crew, which usually broadcasts in 2.0, the night game is supposedly an ABC game, and Maddens and Michaels last one, which will be in 5.1. Lets hope so. At least ESPN has a great studio team.

This CBS picture and sound is by far the best of the weekend. So much for 720P, being the best for sports, it's not on my TV and to my eyes today yesterday or today.

And the 720p vs 1080i debate continues ........

1080i IS only 540p, the reason you seem to like the 1080 on cbs is probably because there is more information being processed with the 1080i, so it may look sharper to you.

What do you have your receiver set to ?

1080i, 720p , 480 or Native ???

Hopefully native so you can see the picure the way it is being sent to you.

I use a cablecard, so it's native, but yesterday's game was the first time I noticed a distinct advantage to CBS coverage versus FOX, ESPN, or ABC. I've always thought that 720P programs would show better on my set since it's the closes to my sets native 768P, but for some reason it was clearly not the case yesterday.

Regardless, 1080i has quite a bit more information to work with, I have seen some awesome SEC games on CBS, and some NFL that are not as sharp.
I am not sure why that is,I suppose it could be the cameras being used.

I personally perfer 720p, but that my opinion, and everyone is entitled to thier own .

The CBS games are better on my TV too. I have the Panasonic TH-50PXPOU. There was a distinct difference between the CBS game and the FOX game. I was set to native on both games. CBS has an awesome pic. FOX and ABC good, but not wow.
