I have been looking really hard at the same system minus the sub which they are selling at $399. They no longer have the sub that was part of the package at $498 but they will be getting the S8.3 sub in any day now which is a step up and are going to e-mail me a package deal. We will see. If I don't get the sub I will probably still get the C-300 system because that's a great deal on a budget. I still need to pick out a receiver that will do the job and not break the bank.

Dsimmelink, how many boxes did the speakers ship in?
I got this cable: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2. They were out of the sub when I bought it as well but I got it somewhere else for about the same price. The speaker package shipped in four boxes: each C-300 in a 41lb box, the C-50s in one 17 lb box, and the C-C50 in a 13lb box.

So far I'm loving it all!!!

No problem. If you do go with the speakers you might want to check out this other thread I started when I was trying to decide on a receiver for them: http://www.highdefforum.com/speakers...-speakers.html Good luck!

Demanding demanding... hahaha J/K!! Oh I fully intend on posting pics.. I have been taking them but have just been delayed in getting it all complete. I really wouldn't feel right posting a half-a$$ed wiring job due to lack of wires which resulted in speaker wire strung across the middle of my living room. Wires wires....

My monoprice order just came in (speakerwire, bananplugs, sub cable) a day ago and I just checked my tracking # and it says my HDMI cables have arrived as well. So TOOOODAY I will be setting the final speaker arrangements, hiding cables appropriately, wiring the receiver with bananaplugs, and TAKING PICS OF THE WHOLE PROCESS.

Again I thank you for all the excellent assistance I have gotten here. It has been invaluable for sure!!! I think the speakers are about broken in so the REAL tests/demos can begin soon!!

Either measure the speaker wire, or make them 5 feet longer than you think you need.

I've made 20' speaker wires before that come up 18" short. Pisses me off to no end.

Be very careful in that phase. Nothing is worse than a short speaker wire.

Allow for slack on both ends so the wire can lay on the floor behind the speaker and receiver. It looks better that way.

Right on thanks. Yeah I definitely plan on measuring it out and adding plenty of extra wire in the case of the surrounds as ideally I think I would like to mount them on the wall but for now I am using stands which I think should suffice.

scooby,
I haven't yet. I did watch Transformers last weekend at a pretty good volume and could tell that it was plenty capable of hitting the low low freqs but as far as HOW much boom it is capable of I haven't tried. I wanted to make sure I had everything broken in sufficiently but I think I'm ready so after I get it all wired up this evening I'll give it a FULL test and let you know how it works out!

One plus of the Yamaha 663 is that is has two LFE outs so I could get a second one I suppose if I really felt the need. But I think with my current living situation right now this should be plenty.

Scooby,
Well I FINALLY got everything setup last night! I watched Iron Man and it rocked. As far as hitting you in the gut.. I'm not sure. Honestly I don't have much experience so I don't have anything to compare it to really. However I will say for an 8" woofer it definitely sounded bigger to me. It wasn't a major boom but had a very nice low deep rumble when the movie called for it. I still think I need to do some more tweaking of the settings... BUT, if you are on a budget like I was, for a sub that cost $100 bucks, I feel it is a great deal for what you end up getting.

And pics... pics are coming SOON!!! I got some good ones but... forgot to take my camera with me this morning to offload them.. DOH! I will try and get them up this afternoon though!!
