The 4002 has 3 HDMI inputs so you can hook all 3 devices up (if your 360 is HDMI)... Fucking BD30K.. Maybe I should just switch my BD35k with his 30K and get him the dam 4002.. I can't believe the 30K only does bitstream.. It is usually the other way around or both.. For $250, that is 1 kickass receiver deal.. What is the video proc chip in that thing Kamp??
I have the BD35k and my xbox is component?

Scooby,
If you're really wanting to get the 663 then I would try 6th Ave as well. They were the ones that offered it to me for 359 shipped. Unfortunately they had about a two week backorder (becoming more of an issue I think as it isn't in prod anymore) and I already had one on the way I paid 409 for. I'm sure you'll end up with a great rig either way.

Then just connect your HD DVR and BD35K HDMI and that will leave you 1 HDMI free for the future.. Connect the 360 to either the receiver or TV via component video and to the 4002 via optical... Set the BD35K to output LCPM for lossless 5.1/7.1 and you will be in Dolby True HD/DTS HD-MA heaven for BD movies.. Sounds like a great option for you.. I just don't see any specs on the video chip or if it has analog upconversion via HDMI like the others do.. From what I can see it does not..Kamp, what's the good word on this??

And melink, sorry we tempo hijacked your thread..

Yeah not too surprising... they probably know they are about the cheapest reseller (fully warrantied for that matter) available now.... supply and demand at its best (or worst?)

Going to do an online chat to find out the supply status.........On backorder, for the price I may go ahead and pull the trigger.give me time to find a sub and my wife to find the perfect tv stand for it. On the other hand I can get the 4002 from a4less for 250.00(refurb)yr warranty.

I don't know if the 4002 upscales. All my sources are already HD.

Maybe I'll dig up the manual.

My favorite thing about it I haven't had any HDMI handshake issues. So far it's been really smooth. and the fact that buying it basically puts $200 in your pocket.

Speaking of HDMI handshaking issues.... I'm having some weird behavior with my 360 connected via HDMI to my 663. Sometimes it connects at 5.1 surround just fine and sometimes it only connects at 2ch. No rhyme or reason that I can tell what it chooses... I have confirmed the same games that output 5.1 then later only output 2 channels...

I am connecting it via HDMI (obviously) and linking it to the DVD input selector. I will take this to an official Yam663 thread if I can't figure it out soon...

Today I went to my local audio/video store and he will match 6th ave price of $359 out the door on the 663. I am going to purchase from him instead and support my local guy. I got the price of $359 from 6th ave on Friday during an on line chat with them and I saved the chat and e-mailed it to myself for my records. Since the guy who normally handles the speaker sales was not in (sick) I have to call back tomorrow and see what he can do about matching the c-300 five speaker package. This was the owner who said he would price match the receiver but we shell see about the speakers. If they don't match I will buy from wwstereo instead.

Oh wow that's awesome! I would have much rather purchased local had I the opportunity to get it for that cheap... even with tax it would be a great deal! Nice work.

HDMI is mystery to pretty much everyone, including the CEMs.

I know you bought a HDMI receiver so you wouldn't have to fool with multiple cables, but you'd be better off just running an optical cable from the 360 to the receiver.

I don't even attempt to get SD audio stuff to work on my receiver. PS3 and HTPC are the only HDMI audio I do.

DVR and 360 are optical even though they don't have to be.

I just don't like all the tomfoolery involved with HDMI.

It was supposed to make things simple ( errrr, put DRM in hardware), but it's made things a mess.

kamspy,
I am considering the Marantz and hooking it up by Bigloww suggestions in post #63.That would leave me a hdmi for future use.Getting a refurb for that price with a 1yr warranty just sounds to good.

Nice move.. Yeah, $249 is a killer deal.. But for only $50 more you can get a new one with a 3 year warranty (same place)... Ehh, I would probably go with the 1 year too. Marantz makes some top quality shit.. At least I know they did..

$50 for an extra two years, I woulda done if I'd noticed the difference.

But the build quality (I haven't checked the cap material or anything) is through the roof. Much more solid than my Onkyo and a bit more so than the 663 just in terms of fit, finish and heft.

As stated, I don't think I can say anymore than what I have.

I think it's the best dollar-for-feature receiver on the market. - Provided all your BD gear decodes the audio.

Can't really recommend it any more than that
