Default Logitech G51: Background noise

Hi there,

First of all I'm not sure if I can ask questions about non-high def sound systems here but HD Forum seems to be the place to ask about sound in general.

Now, I'm wondering if there's a problem with my Logitech G51 5.1 sound system and, in that case, what. The speakers are "whispering" a silent white noise whenever the system is on (independent of connections to the sound card/PC) - the sound is audible within about 50 centimeters (20 inches) and is very low. I contacted Logitech's support and was informed that there is always a very quiet background noise from speakers (most likely due to interference regarding the analog components and cables) but a louder noise is not acceptable and is considered a technical problem.
Personally, I don't know if the noise will bother me in the long run (as I'm using a pretty noise gamer PC with the G51) but if it's a sign of technical issues, I'd like to get it sorted out. Thus, two questions remain:
- Do you think the low noise a problem or merely an inevitable phenomenon?
- What can cause such a noise? As I mentioned before, my own guess is some sort of analog interference - but where?

Thank you so much for your help!

Could be interference, but regardless, it should not show in the final product.

They are more than capable of shielding the necessary components.

I'm sitting in front of some decent sized computer speakers right now and there is no background noise.

So... What's the best cause of action? Returning the product as defective and requesting a replacement?

I would.

Logitech usually makes really quality stuff for the price, so the next set ought to be good.

Okay. I'll report the problem tomorrow and request a refund. Thank you for your help!
