Default Onkyo s5100 w/ Vizio

I am setting up an Onkyo HT-S5100, XBOX 360, Cable, to a Vizio VO47L.

Is the optical audio OUT from the Vizio better or worse than running everything into the Onkyo first and then into the TV?

The downside of the latter is that I am then using 3 remotes. One for TV one for SS component selection and volume and one for changing channels.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The best connection scenario is to connect all of the audio to the receiver. Then connect all video to the TV.

You could always purchase a Harmony remote or another brand of universal remote to eliminate your 3 remote control dilemma.
