hey there guys. this is my very first time on any thread(if thats what this is called). anyways, i had purchased the ht6100 on nov. 1st. i connected it via hdmi to my blu ray player, hd dvd player, and 50"plasma tv. It sounds GREAT. i found out after connecting everything, that the receiver's ability to decode true hd was unneccessary, because both players already did the decoding. still, the hdmi mutichannel signal is nice and makes for easy connection. anyways, i purchased it at circuit city. they have reduced the price to $629, plus they sent me coupons that took 10% off(they would expire on nov. 18), making the cost $566(which i believe is a great price for a new system with a two year warranty(only onkyo as far as i know offers this)). Also the remote... it's awesome cause it's the first i've gotten to operate everything-blu ray, hd dvd, sattelite receiver, and the tv.(and the ipod)

By the way guys, i got these wall mounts from monoprice and they seem to be working well with the 6100 speakers. $8.10 for the pair.

Y is that? We got it for $580 shipped to our doors. I doubt retail stores are going to drop any lower than that, and now i dont have to deal with black friday.

Me neither but waiting a few weeks for the BIGGEST sales day of the year is worth it, and if the 6100 price stays the same, I'll buy it anyway.
Trust me, I wish I had it now, I can't enjoy my 360 without a surround sound.

only circuit city has anything on onkyo.and still there is a 7.1 system but doesn't say what one it is, and if it is the s6100 we still got a better deal http://bfads.net/Circuit-City

Thanks for the link, good deal on the 5100 but the 7.1 is only the receiver with 5.1 speakers, so it's useless, it must not be the 6100, either way for $599 it's not worth it.
I'll keep checking online, and on Black Friday I'll go to CC, if they have nothing, I'll leave and order online at full price, only time will tell.

I just set up my wires and stands, and I marked the wires (front left...), now all I need is a good deal on Black Friday, can't wait.

One question to all of you that have it: how does the center speaker perfom, is it loud and clear when people talk...?
Reason I'm asking is because my cheap old 5.1 system center speaker was not loud and clear, I had to set it at maximum compared to the other speakers and it sounded like a mono speaker, my tv speakers sounded better that the center speaker alone.

Where was the center located??? I had the same issue just a few days ago with this system. After taking some advice from L2W i found out that having the center in an elcosed area and too low was really hurting my sound. When i pulled it out and placed it right infront of the TV the sound improved a good bit.

But i did still have to bump the decibal level up a few from what the Audyssey setup had put it at. But i belive that in the right position you can get fine sounds.

Before i took it out of the cubby i had it jacked up to 9db and was barely making out the audio. When i pulled it out it seemed to be plenty loud, and was adjustable further to 12db if needed... so i think the center juice is there.... maybe still slightly on the weak side imo, but good enough.

I too had to bump the center up about 2 db's after the audyssey setup.
But now it is fine!

And really I only did it for Tv watching since almost all of the shows are dialog and not sound fx.

on a side note TNT had Saving Private Ryan on the other day in HD. The signal out of the cable box was DD EX 5.1.....Holy Shit! the opening scene was crazy. I thought I needed a gun and a helmet!
