Since I got this system, I no longer go out and watch movies in theaters (tired of paying $20 or so per person to go). Just wait until it comes out on BD, then put it into my Netflix que.
The subwoofer seems to be big from the picture you submitted. Can the receiver fit on top of the subwoofer, so you could eliminate the table? I'm thinking of doing this before I buy the home theater system.

I agree, not a good idea to put the receiver on the speaker.

IF you want Digital Sound you have to use an Optical cable or a digital rca. Plus the 6100 is a HD 7.1 system. You do not have to run it as a 7.1, because the system auto calibrates to however many speakers you hook up. 5.1, 6.1.

Also if you setup all 7 speakers and the source is say 5.1 only. the reciever "ProLogics" what the rear Speakers should play in order to use all 7 speakers. If you have a PS3, Xbox 360, HD DVD player, Bluray Player or HD tv Tuner/Cable box that supports HDMI. The 6100 is the system for you.

Also the 6100 is 1080P compatable. And it has a Crap load of inputs.

The extra $100 for HDMI capabilities and TrueHD playback...And the nicer Speakers, and the extra HDMI input....Yes Well worth the Upgrade.

"I've been wondering if S7100 is worth the money that's over S6100...... "
As for the 7100...the only diference I could see is that the 7100 comes with speaker Stands.....To me it was not worth the extra $100.
Right on the money, I considered the 5100, but it's not a tue 7.1, and the 7100 only seems to have stands, and forget the 9100 it's way too damn expensive. the 6100 is the best choice IMO, that's why I'll get for sure, should sound great with my 360 and even better once I get a PS3 for MGS4 and to play BD (renting online at Blockbuster), now all I'm waiting for is the possibility of a huge price cut on Black Friday, if not I'll buy it full price.

I'm ordering 6 stands, 1 HDMI cable, wires and banana plugs from monoprice when I get paid in 2 days, and once when I get everything I'll set up the stands, plugs and wires so that way when I get the 6100 all I'll have to do is put up the speakers, the receiver and connect all that stuff.
I'm also getting this center speaker stand from E-bay since they don't have it at monoprice: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tab%3DWatching

Then I'll need a new picture for my signature link of my set-up.

I went to 2 circuit city stores and those morons don't even know what's on the shelves, they had the 5100 model on display while advertising the 6100, I noticed something was off when the speakers were different sizes and didn't match what I saw before on the Onkyo website.

I ordered 3 pairs of speaker stands, 16 Gauge wire and 7 pairs of banana plugs at Monoprice.com, now all I'm waiting for is Black Friday to see if Circuit City will have the 6100 on sale.

Yeap! I have a credit card from them with $1000 available on it, I'm too broke to pay cash for it, unless I can get it for $350-$400 on Black Friday.
The only time I could afford it is with the tax refund in March 09 or the new rebate check (they're talking about another round), and I'm not gonna wait forever to replace my 5.1

Damn that was fast! I ordered on the 7th and I got it today (the 10th), I already set up the stands, now all I have to do is set up the wires and connect the banana plugs, then wait for Black Friday to see if I can get a good price on it.
I also got my Center speaker stand from E-bay in 3 days ($30, 18" tall)

And this is why Circuit City is going out of business. They are so much more expensive than anyone else on the HT-S6100.

Why not get a real crdit card from master card or visa then make your purchase. If you got a circuit city card surely you qualify for a visa!

I think even on a black friday sale you are not going to touch $550. And then they will talk you into the Monster hdmi cables and the useless insurance....Just saying.

Unless you mean the card you have is a CC gift card thingy. then by all means get it there!

Greetings everyone. I'm fairly novice at home theater but do have an appreciation for great sounding audio. After doing a lot of research, I decided to purchase the HT-S6100 as opposed to purchasing a TX-SR606 receiver and separate speakers. Both receivers being nearly identical in features, the 6100 seemed to be an excellent value. Now, with that out of the way...

I just ordered the same items from monoprice and am somewhat concerned about the speaker stands they sell. As cheaply priced as they are, I figured one couldn't really go wrong with them. I'm hopeful that the speakers mount to the stands without much trouble. Some have commented that they are not very stable, especially on carpeted surfaces, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to make them work.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't realize you were holding out on the purchase... I'll report back though.

I'll hopefully get mine within a few days (as well as the 6100 system from Newegg). I'd be interested in any feedback you can give regarding mounting the speakers to the stands. I'm hopefully that it will work out well

If you look at the stands they are curved at the top to put the center of gravity in the middle so they won't tip over, and the speakers from the 6100 are not that heavy and they have the threads for screwing them in the back so they will be very well secured to the stands.
The stands have a heavy round metal piece that go under the base and it's heavy, so it's very stable, I have received them, as I said before and I'm confident they'll do the job, and they are slim and elegant and don't look cheap even though they only cost $13 a pair, can't beat that, and they come with all the adapters you'll ever need for all kinds of speaker types.

I just went to Fry's, they had the 5100 and the 7100 on display, no mention of the 6100, even though it's on their website
http://shop3.frys.com/product/570395...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG
I saw the speakers from the 7100, which are the same as the 6100, and they look very nice and are all the same sizes.
