Default Lips out of synch?

New Panny 32lx700 hooked up via HDMI to SA3800. Than's it. Been noting that the lips are either moving before or after I hear the word. My sound settings are BB and SS. On the STB, I've tried audio range from wide/narrow/normal to no avail. There definitely is a delay and the only thing I can think of is that the TV is about 2" from my armoire's opening. Ugh! I just don't know...

Contact your cable provider and complain. Or you could try hooking the video up via component and the audio via optical digital.

Both reasonable approaches. However, I just took another look at this problem the other day. The way I have my unit set up (split incoming cable between the TV and the STB), I was able to watch the TV on both direct cable, and then same channels via STB, and then same channels via STB's DVR. Most interestingly, there was no problem with lip synch with any of these modes. Could it be that the day I noticed the problem, Comcast was ahving a bad hair day?

Have to redefine the problem with more data input. My wife DVRs her daytime soaps eminating from ABC-HD (431 via comcast). She DVRs them on two different TVs (rear projection Sony-6 years old and the new panny 32lx700, both having a SA3800HD stb). Interestingly, the DVR playback from the sony/sa3800 is in lip synch, while the playback from the panny/sa3800 is not. Furthermore, when just viewing ABC-HD on the panny, the lips are out of synch, but all other stations are in synch. When viewing ABC-HD on the sony, the lips are in synch (as are all other channels). The sound on the STB is set to narrow and the sound on the panny is set to surround (although changing the various settings on the panny makes no difference). The connection between stb and panny is hdmi. Bottom line, why would only on station exhibit out of synch sound?

The best that comcast help could do (before sending out a tech) was to suggest that by splitting (I'm using comcasts approved splitter) the incoming cable between the TV and the STB, I'm diminishing the signal and that could cause the problem. I haven't tried setting up with the cable directly to the stb as I just can't believe that the split cable is causing this problem (used this system with the previous tv, a sony wega, and didn't have this problem

I run into that problem every now and then also. I asked the tech when he came out and installed the HD box and he said they don't support audio over a fiber optic cable. I still use it though.
