Default Subjective

For me, the ONLY way to buy speakers is to listen to various brands with the music and or type of DVD movies you prefer. It is also important to listen to them with the receiver/components you like. Audition, audition, audition.
I liked Monitor Audio and B&W. I chose MA based upon price and my ear. Have never looked back. The point is you will likely be satisfied with any good quality speaker you purchase.

i had klipsch....took them back and got infinity beta's. i heard the klipsch are made in china now, could be wrong though. but there is definately lesser build quality then they used to have example the sticker that says the m number and serial number used to be a stamp. small detail but a cut corner.

I had a pair of klipsch forte 2's. Holy S*&# those speakers were good.
Horn tweeter and midrange, with a 12" active woofer and a 15" passive radiator on the rear. I could move every bit of air in my house with those speakers. Made in america. That was back in '92
Live recordings sounded best!!!

Default A plug for Athena Micra 6 speakers

Haven't seen these mentioned here, but I can't say enough about the Athena Micra 6 speaker system. They're supposed to be around $550 for the 4 satellites, the center channel, and the sub, but I found them once at Best Buy for like $250. A true steal.

I looked and listened to about a dozen other brands in the Compact Speakers category and they really seemed to have the best overall sound.

I wasn't expecting too much from them, but having done several LOUD movies on them, they perform every bit as well as systems costing 2-3 times the amount.

Default Infinity

My personal choice is Infinity. Ever since I was a teen I always blew speakers. Til finally I came across a wicked pair of speakers. I speak of the Infinity Overture 3 from the 1990's. These tower speakers are made of kevlar and have circuit protection to prevent overextending. Inside are two woofers, two midrange, one tweeter and two subwoofers. They have to be plugged into the wall and have spikes on the bottom to prevent them from tipping over. They are the most accurate, clean speaker I have ever heard on the consumer level. Add a REL Sub and man you can break your best crystal with little effort.
