Question TV Ears and Speakers together, HELP

Hi, I've been battling this to get it to work for days. My partner has to wear TV ears to hear tv, he has both digital and analog models.
We have a Samsung UN55B8000 HD tv and a Pioneer VSX-1123. Presently he has the tv ears plugged into the cable box. I purchased a Roku premiere and love hearing my movies off it in DTS when its plugged into the pioneer, (plugging it into the tv only has optical out so limited surround sound support) but I can' find a way to send sound to the TV Ears at the same time, even just analog. I've tried the pioneer pre-outs but the sound is weak and distorted, and using multi zone or zone 2 I think means losing channels in the main, I never got it to work anyways. Googling I found this: "PYLE PRO PP999 Phono Turntable Pre-Amplifier" would it work connected between the pre outs and the tv ears base? or do I need something else? anyone please help, so frustrating. Heres pic of the back of the tv and pioneer

You probably do need some additional amplification before the ears base, but using a phono preamp may provide too much. I'd look at getting a line level (not phono level) preamp. Phono level preamps are looking for signals in the order of 3mv whereas the pre outs will be closer to 1 volt. Additionally, phono pre amps will have RIAA equalization for magnetic cartridges which would alter the sound. One like this could be better: https://www.amazon.com/High-Gain-Ste...gateway&sr=8-8
