Default Help?

Hello all, I have an onkyo receiver, it's pretty old. I also have a pannasonic TV. A blu-ray player, a firestick works with this receiver because they plug into the HDMI ports on the TV. Not to be confusing but with the antenna, the receiver won't work because it's just that, the cable from the antenna plugs into the TV. Seems like the TV needs an HDMI input for the receiver to work. I have an audio out on the TV but doesn't activate the receiver either? Probably doing something wrong....maybe somebody can direct me a little. Remember, no HDMI in or outs on the older receiver. The receiver works fine when an HDMI is plugged into one of it's ports. Hope it's not too confusing. Thanks.
