Default How to best combine music in every room & surround sound? Advice appreciated.

Hi, I am a newbie here and am a bit confused after researching possible home theater systems/home audio solutions so I thought I would consult the experts. Any advice/feedback is much appreciated.

So here is the situation: I am moving into a ~1000 sq. ft. condo, with an open floor plan (combined kitchen, living room, dining room area, which is about 750 or so of the total square footage), one bedroom and one bathroom (attached to the bedroom). My goals are twofold:

1. I am mounting a big flat-screen tv on the wall, and want to install a "surround sound" system of some sort. I can see the tv from the kitchen (~20 feet away), and I want to hear it clearly there too. Ideally, I would like good speakers in the living room, and one speaker (wireless, if possible, or at least with the wire nicely concealed) in the kitchen. NOTE: I have been told by some that a good Soundbar would suffice for my fairly small living room. To save a bundle, I would do that if it really would be a good enough substitute for a real surround sound system.

2. I also want "music in every room." I have been looking into airplay for this, which seems like a good solution. Amazon suggest a bundle of three different Airplay-compatible speakers that would more than suffice if they work well. One important part of this goal is that I want a speaker in the bathroom so that I can listen to music/radio while taking showers. I need to be able to stream the music from my iphone to all the speakers. Also, could I somehow stream the sound from my tv to the airplay speakers? I cannot find an answer to this.

Is there a way to combine the two "systems" I am looking for? Is it worth having a professional come and install a serious speaker systems throughout the condo (especially since the space isn't that big, so this might not totally break the bank)? Should I get a soundbar and then the airplay system?

Again, thank you in advance for any advice/feedback. I have tried to research all this on my own but need some help to make it all come together, if that makes sense.

Well, one option is two have to separate speaker systems (one for surround sound in your TV room and kitchen, and seperate speakers for your bathroom and around the condo), all controlled with one receiver. In addition, you would need a radio remote such as the logitech harmony, so you could alternate and control volume without having to be in front of the receiver (it could be hidden away in a closet).
