Default Looking to Upgrade

Good Morning Everyon,

I am looking to upgrade my speaker set up, and since my budget is limited I intend to to do it little by little.

At the moment I have Denon AVR-591 550W Receiver w/ BA MCS 95 Speaker System, which my wife gave me for a bday gift several years back.

I have been doing research but I am not enough of an expert to know what speakers would perform better than the BA MCS95. The first section I am a looking to upgrade is the Center and Front speakers, since I understand they must all be the same brand.

I found this offer on the net Fluance SXHTBCS with center channel and from speaker for 150, the deal looks good on paper, but they might be just a side upgrade to my current configuration.

Any feedback or suggestions are welcome. My budget I guess would be between 200 and 500, the lower the better,

well for a set at $150.00, thats not what id call high end, or even midrange. you get what you pay for, but there are always deals out there. used electronics have the biggest drop in price when used than anything else. i bought a pair of Jamo 707i tower speakers for $300.00. he gave me the paper work, and receipt, they sold for $1600.00 new. i have no problem in buying used speakers because you can buy replacement speakers for them and mostly not that much money. and if they dont offer them anymore you can have them rebuilt for cheap. already found this out. sounds like you have a good receiver so all you need now are better speakers. check ebay and when you find some that look good search the internet to red reviews and see what they sold for new. if you dont already have towers id check ebay for a pair for the $150.00, they will make a world of difference. then wait until you have more money to get a good center speaker. that what i did. satrted out with a complete kit, sony rceiver and surround speakers, was good for years, then yamaha receiver, yamaha center and i fixed a pair of old cannon speakers that had 10" woofers. that lasted for years but the cannons were big and posted tower speakers wanted on craiglist, scored on the jamo's. picked up a center yamaha on ebay, yamaha 150 watt powered subwoofer on ebay, and rear yamaha surrounds, this took a few years but it was worth it. now i have no reason to upgrade. so if what you have works then get better, not different.

So basically any floor Standing Speakers are better than what i have? LOL

should the center speaker be the same brand as the front speakers? or can I mix and match speakers and still get good performance?

It is recommended you get your frt soundfield with the same speakers to achieve matching timbre if not the same model at least the same speaker cone size. This will help achieve a seamless soundfield.
