Default Onkyo htr550 help please!!

I have a htr550 receiver and the hdmi port are only for video I'm not that good at this stuff so I was wondering if any one knew how to use the 7.1 multichannel inputs for the Xbox one or if there was a way to do so it says it has 7.1 but if I run the optical cable to Xbox one I only get 5.1 surround sound

Please help I really want 7.1 surround sound on Xbox one but can't afford a new recover with audio hdmi passthru

Any help would be so awesome

Thanks Jon

Optical is limited to 5.1. You can apply PLIIx in the receiver to expand 5.1 over optical to 7.1.

Or get a box like this one to convert a 7.1 HDMI input to a 7.1 analog output:

You'll also need three cables with RCA mini connectors on one end and standard stereo RCA connectors on the other end. The minis attach to the converter and the stereo connectors attach to the receiver.

But, if you're going to spend that much on a converter box, save a little more and buy a receiver that processes HDMI audio.
