Exclamation Surround sound problems

Hello Everyone,

I have a little problem with my Surround Sound consisting of:
- Sony STR-DH520 receiver
- Cerwin Vega: XLS-6 XLS-6C, XLS-28
- No Subwoofer.

When I watch movies, etc. in stereo the sound is really good, there is good bass on the action sequences, the speech is good and with a nice depth to the voice. But if I put my receiver in surround. Then the sound do not have the same good bass and depth in the voice. The audio is just a little more flat in it.

What can be the reason to this? What can I do, to make the sound just as good and crisp as when I play in stereo?

I have tried to calibrate the receiver and speaker with calibration mic. But the sound still sounds better in stereo than surround.

Thanks in advance

// Sorry if my english no so good

Maybe the surroind sound receiver is trying to send those missing audio signals to a sub woofer. It's dalled 5.1 for q reason.

In stereo it is sending all the sounds to right and left to your 5 speakers with center speaker getting all the sound and with Surround turned on it is splitting the signals. What you get is dialog out of center speaker which will sound tiny compared to other speakers and splits rest of sound to other 4 speakers. You may have to change speaker size to large to have a bass level comparable to stereo and check your settings and make sure that bass speaker is turned off. This is the reason I only use surround only for Blu-Ray and Netflix and not for cable.

interesting. I use surround sound for everything, especially for action shows and movies on my Directv system. Even most of the network shows on at night are 5.1 and have some amazing sound. .
