Default Old PC surround sound to TV

hi guys, (first post! )

I'm wanting to hook up my old PC surround sound to my TV to get more out of my Xbox and and films and stuff, but I'm struggling with the connection. i've got the old 3 jack, Black/green/Pink, and HDMI connections in my TV.

So, the real question is, is it a possible setup? i want proper 5.1 sound, but I'm struggling to find an adapter to serve the purpose.

Also, can i use any of the HDMI connections in the back of my TV as an output?

Cheers, Alex.

Black/green/pink?? It should be for analog-white/red/yellow. White is always left-red-right-yellow is video. Unless you have a digital out put, (optical/or coax, or an HDMI you will not get 5.1 analog is relegated to stereo.

I've got black green and pink jack connections in the back of the sub, which then routes to the speakers. I gather I can use one of the home's in the back of the TV as an output, or can I? Just want to know if it's possible.

It might be possible. You can't use a HDMI connection as an output. Most of the newer TVs have a digital audio output and don't have an analog audio output. If yours has a digital audio output either coax (RCA) or optical you can get a digital to analog converter to place between your TV and the PC speaker system. You will need to figure out which of the black/green/pink connections works best.

Here are some converters:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...io%20converter
Get one that will handle 5.1 digital.

Quick update on the situation. found out that my Xbox has a SPDIF output, and my computer has a HDMI input. Would it be possible to get a converter cable to go from my Xbox's SPDIF to my computers HDMI, and then Route the sound from the soundcard to my speakers?

Cheers, and Thanks for all the help!

Alex.

I am willing to bet that the computer has HDMI out (I have never seen one with HDMI in) so I really doubt that will work.
Any time you have connection questions you really need to have model #'s of the equipment otherwise it is all just guessing really.
