Default Review Surround Set-up w/ new Vizio TV

I've upgraded my TV recently and surround sound worked via DVD but it wasn't working while watching HDTV. I think with the connections below I am good to go, but wanted somebody to review the connections & set-up to make sure I'm take advantage of the best possible surround sound for DVD & TV with the equpiment I have in place.

4 pieces of equipment involved:

Vizio E701i-A3
Sony Blu-Ray disc BDP S580
Xfinity/Comcast Cisco RNG200 DVR
Denon AVR-1603/683

DVR connected via HDMI to the Vizio TV (HDMI-1)
Sony BR DVD connected via HDMI to the Vizio TV (HDMI-2)
Sony BR DVD connected via Coaxial to Denon AVR (Coaxial IN)
Vizio TV connected via Fiber Optic to Denon AVR (OPT-2 IN)

The Denon AVR was purchased probably back in 2002 and has provided me with what I need thus far. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any HDMI inputs, but if I don't have to upgrade the receiver yet that would be great. I've attached an image of the back of the equipment from the user manuals & connections.

You need to run an optical line from the dvr to the AVR (not from the tv to the AVR)- running from the tv to the Denon limits you to 2 channel stereo. See the above correction

So the Vizio E701i-A3 does not pass Dolby Digital 5.1?

Very few TVs pass anything better than 2.1 through the audio out, except what they receive from their own internal tuner, presumably because they only contain 2-channel speakers. With the increasing popularity of soundbars directly connected to TVs, TV manufacturers are fixing this silly cost-saving measure in many newer TVs.
