Question Need surround sound receiver recommendation

I'm looking at buying a new surround sound receiver. I'm looking at purchasing something from Onkyo and I don't want to spend over $400.00 for it. I have the Bose acoustimass speakers.

Any recommendations?

The only one I have seen recommended for an acoustimass system is the Onkyo TX-NR626 but pretty much anything will give you the same results (garbage). If you have the option though I would return the BOSE acoustimass and get real speakers - even a cheap set will outperform the highest level BOSE. All BOSE has going for it is the WAF (wife accpetance factor) due to it's small footprint.

Yea I really don't have the option of returning the Bose speakers. I've had them for over 5 years now. Maybe when I move I'll buy some different speakers. Right now I'm looking into getting a new receiver. The one I currently have is a Yamaha receiver and its so old it doesn't have Hdmi. I'm looking for something good around $400.00 that comes loaded with features and has good reviews. I'll take suggestions for other manufacturers but I was told Onkyo was the best.

how about this Onkyo 616? $394 buck-just under your $400 and free shipping.

This site sells factory reconditioned avr's and other equipment. The Factory recons are good as they go over them completely. You can't get new for less. Company is highly respected. I'm really tempted myself.

Yea at accessories 4 less for $400 you can get an entire surround system that will be better than the Bose you already own and you could then fleabay or craigslist them and pocket a good bit of change
