Again, thanks for all of your help!

The system was working GREAT until a nearby lightning strike took out my receiver, cable box, router and a few other things. Seems the surge protector didn't do a thing...

Anyone have suggestions on a replacement receiver? I was thinking this Onkyo NR-525 for $240, but am open to suggestions. Just want to keep it below $250 and preferably closer to $200.

Here is what I did for my Super Nintendo. Hooked it to the TV and set the Denon to TV. ARC will send the sound to the AVR. As far as unconversion goes...Your TV will do it better then any entry level AVR.

Hope you find what you need man.

Thanks for the advice!

Did end up getting a Denon. The AVR-X2000 from accessories4less.com.

Seems like a lot of bang for the buck for $280! Wish it had bluetooth, but can't win them all.

Has upconverting and allows me to play two different sources on each zone which will be a nice feature as well.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but wanted to pose another question.

I'm loving the system, all is working well! But as I update my house (track lighting to recessed, etc), I am becoming more annoyed with the speakers hanging off the walls/ceiling. White ceilings and black speakers aren't helping...

I am under the impression that ceiling-mounting the front/middle speakers is not a good idea, but I'm wondering if I can at least ceiling-mount the rear? Afraid of using unmatched speakers though. These are what I'm currently thinking about per great reviews and low price:

If anyone has affordable ideas on how to improve the front, I'm all ears. After this, I plan to get some trim and built a nice cover to put around the ceiling-mounted projector screen.
