Default Yet another "Best BOOM for the Buck" request. Sorry.

Hi all, building my first Home theater in a 10'Wide x 13'Long x 8'High room and I'm wondering what the best set of 5.1 Surround speakers I can get for around $250-$300.

I don't know whether to get a receiver seperately or just get a plug and play "In a Box" job. If i went with a receiver it's cost would Not be included in that 300 bucks, it would be seperate. I know that's not much of a budget, but it's what i have to work with.

Looking for as many opinions as I can get, as I've only ever heard from TV speakers and would like to "experience" sound for the first time to see what I've been missing.

Current issues:
No surround sound!
Volume has to be cranked to understand speech
Can hear TV more clearly in other parts of house.(figure that one out..)

It's better to have a single thread rather than opening a second one like this for the same basic question.

For this price, with a powered sub, this would make a good budget surround sound system. Deftech pro 60: http://www.amazon.com/Definitive-Tec.../dp/B001GOK9GE

And for the AVR check out a denon: http://www.accessories4less.com/make...eceiver/1.html

This is not the same thread written a second time.

This thread is specifically about speakers where as my other thread was a HUGE over view of my whole theater build for guys to check my work and tell me what I'm doing right/wrong.

No "in a box" job will come close to handling the connectivity requirements you spelled out in your other thread.

That DefTech set of speakers are good quality for the price and the housing design eliminates standing resonance giving a much better performance, they wil perform well with the Denon.
