Default Question on setting up my Samsung system

So a few months ago I bought a Samsung 5.1 home theater system (HT-D5550) and just last week got around to finally putting it together and all that. I set it up to run HDMI out from the reciever to my TV while also running my Dish Network box HDMI to the TV. I switched my Sony Bravia TV to run the sound thru the theater system setting it has but I got nothing.... Upon examination, I found out that I need to run optical audio from my Dish box to the Samsung reciever in order to get sound since I am only running "out" from the reciever, the TV won't transmitt audio. So now the big question, I have multiple devices: PS3 (my bluray player), my Dish box, soon to be my computer that I run on HDMI. If I were to buy a 5x HDMI switch and ran the single HDMI out from this switch to my TV and then run optical audio from the TV to my reciever, will I be getting sound from the TV? I have no idea how to go about setting up a multiple HDMI/optical audio set up so all the help is appreciated. Thanks!

Actually, thinking about this more would it be better for me to find a HDMI switch that allows for Toslink optical audio out from there and run it from the switch to my Samsung reciever? That would give me audio from whatever source I have selected on the switch while also running the video from the switch directly to the TV. Unless I'm completely wrong...
