Default Mirage vs Bose Speakers?

Hey Guys,

New to Forum, and new to Home Theater Setup. Want a good but not too expensive Home Theater Setup and am trying to figure out which Speaker system I want to get. I don't mind spending tops of $1000.00 .Setup is as follows:

Samsung 40" LCD HDTV with 4 HDMI
Sony BD Blu-ray player
And Yamaha RX-V471 AV reciever (525W)

The two speaker choices that I am struggling with are

Mirage - MX 1300W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater Speaker System - Black
unable to post URL

and

Bose® - Acoustimass® 10 Series IV Home Entertainment Speaker System - Black
unable to post URL

If there are any other speakers that will work and are compatable, please feel free to enlighten me. Thanks

I would recommend the Mirage system over the Bose, without even a second thought.

Id look into a set of Polks.
Even an old transistor radio would be better than the Bose...

Thumbs down Bose Speakers

Indeed. You can go to WalMart and purchase a set of $100 speakers that will blow away anything that "Blose" makes. Definitely go with the Mirage. .

I did look into a set of Polks. Didn't know anything about them though. How is thier reputation on good speakers? And what what be a good set? I am definitely leaning more towards Mirage; however, I would like for the center speaker to be a bit wider then the front satelites though. I dont like the fact that the Bose satelite speakers wire into the bass unit then into the AV reciever (would be more like computer speakers). Seems to me that you would not get full effect of the the AV reciever. I still want to look around though, as I want to get the best. I will update dimensions of room in a day or two. Anymore feedback is appreciated. Thanks !!

Doing more research, I had also found these.

Definitive Technology ProCinema 800

Great reviews, and has the wide center speaker. Any thoughts?

I'm liking these. Seems to be better than the Mirage, plus I like the wider center speakers. Will do more research on reviews about these speakers. I have perferred Newegg account, so this would actually be perfect if reviews are awesome, and will order before friday to take advantage of sale.

Those will be better than the mirages - fyi Martin Logan is a well respected high end speaker manufacturer. Their upper echelon electrostatic speakers are amazing.

Default Wow!!!

Got speakers on Friday night, and hook everything up Friday night and most of Saturday. Finally got everything hooked up and did a test run, and am totally impressed. Totally amazing sound. Awesome deal, for awesome speakers. The Yamaha RX-V471 525w AV receiver really made these speakers shine. I was kind of skeptical about buying speakers without hearing them first, but couldn't pass up on a deal like this. I am truly glad that I had gotten them. It is really enjoyable watching TV now! Just doing some tweaking and first Blu-ray movie is going to be the first Transformers, to really take advantage of the surround sound. The area of Living Room is about 15x20. Thanks again
