Default Help with my speaker setup!

I have a Panasonic ST30 and want to hook up my set of Logitech Z-680 5.1 speakers to the set until I can get a better sound setup. These are (were?) basically high end PC speakers and would at least be better than the in-TV speakers.

I currently do not have a budget for a receiver, which is why I need your help. What are my options here? My HD DVR and Blu Ray player both have optical and coax out and are connected via HDMI. The Z-680 control panel has both of those:

The TV itself also has an optical out. Do I hook one unit (DVR and Blu Ray) into each input, or can I run a single optical out from the TV to the speaker control panel? I also have an RCA adapter that allows me to hook up the speakers to either one of my devices via RCA, but I don't want to be switching back and forth. I'm not really sure what will work and what won't.

To get the best sound, connect the coax from one of your devices (Blur-ay player) to the coaxial connection on the speaker and the optical out from the HD DVR to the optical (Toslink) input on the speaker. All should be fine and give you the best sound with your current setup/equipment.

Hope this helps.

I stopped by Best Buy today while we were out running errands. The only optical cable I saw was selling for $59.99. I came home and ordered the cable from Monoprice for $1.98 (less than $6.00 for both cables + shipping).

Way to go! And those Monoprice cable are equally as good as those highly overpriced BestBuy cables.
