Default Receiver Goes Into Protection Mode

While watching two shows on HBO this week, IRobot, and Rome, my receiver shut down whenever a big action scene started. On the other surround sound shows from ABC, NBC, the receiver did not shut down. I've had this setup listed below for three weeks, and not until this weekend did this problem occur. I think it's the subwoofer, because when I shut it off, the receiver will not go in to protect, any questions, comments, or suggestions?

Get a subwoofer amp, if you don't have one.
