Configuration Receiver/TV/cable

I have SONY home theater system, Vizio tv and fios HD

Tv has four HDMI outlets.

Question is what is my best set up for sound.

Receiver has:

inputs: optical audio, coaxial digital audio and analog audio
Outputs: HDMI, component video and composite video

best to do all HDMI cables? I got a optical wire as well... had a hard time fitting it in? SHould I remove that bulb?

Best method of connecting would be HDMI as far at optical (TOS link) cabling those cables are normally shipped with a protective cap over the Polished ends of the fiber optic cable which must be removed before use. they also have a "key" shape besure you postion key correctly for a solid connection.

Connect the Sony HTIB to the TV using HDMI for video.
Connect FIOS to the TV using HDMI for video.
Connect FIOS to the Sony HTIB using optical for audio. (The Sony box doesn't have any HDMI inputs.) Check the FIOS box configuration to make sure it sends DD 5.1 on channels that have it. It may default to stereo instead.

The HDMI jacks on the TV are inputs, not outlets, btw.

There's likely a built-in disc player in that unit and it has HDMI, component, and composite video outputs for connections to any type of display.

My Sony has HDMI outputs.

Thank you BIslander for the answer.

Simple and direct.

I think Nuno is confused.. I believe it is 1 of those HTIB's with a built in BD or DVD player like BI stated. It probably as no HDMI inputs and a single HDMI out for the BD/DVD player.

If so and the HTIB has an optical input, just follow BI's steps and you should be good to go.

That's not possible. It has an HDMI output, but no HDMI inputs. So, he needs to go HDMI from the cable box to the display for video and optical from the cable box to the HTIB for audio.

I stand corrected ... my apologies for any confusion. Your description above is on the money.
