Default Help on speaker placement 7.1

i cant place all the rear speakers exactly where they should be.

My couch backs flush up againt a back wall and a sidewall on one side. Behind the couch is a decent sized window. My current surround speakers are on either side of the window pointing down to the couch. At about 6'5" height.

I was thinking i could mount my L and R surrounds down each side of the window say at about 4'5" and face them in. Then i could mount the L and R rear either where the old ones were (and face them forward). or actually mount them closer together above the window at about the 7' level. Either way all 4 of these speakers will end up the same distance from the viewer.

Are these 4 speakers going to interfere with each other?

Was thinking of using Infinity Primus 140's for all the rear speakers. 150's if i can only use 2.

any imput appreciated as always

Default Placement problem

Your surround speakers should be close t 3/5's the distance from your display; measuring from the center of the display to your sweet spot or your central viewing position. Also, since you are up against the wall with your couch, have you considered ceiling mounting the rears?

really no way for me to put the surrounds in the correct position. ie, 3/5 the way down. That would put them into the archway that leads into another room.

Really only option if i do the full 7.1 setup is to put the surrounds on the wall behind the couch (at slightly above ear level) facing in, and the rear surrounds up higher close to the ceiling or ceiling mounted...would make the surrounds and rears at the same distance from the tv but at different heights....really no alternative in this room other than leave out the rears

Would there be a major problem with this setup? Would it be better to just leave out the rears and just leave it a 5.1 set-up?

You could put the surrounds to the left and the right of the seating area and the rear surrounds where your existing surrounds are now. They are surround speakers not needed for positioning of visual images anyway. Surround information is generally non directional such as crowd noise, wind, etc. If you check theaters they will have several surround speakers on each side wall, so the more surround speakers would be better.
