Default Need help/info. about impedance of speakers

Hi,

I have old Infinity speakers and I believe they are of 8 ohm impedance. I just got a cheap all in one (Tuner, DVD player) Panasonic systems SC-HT730. It comes with speakers but are of 4 ohm impedance.

So the question is, can I continue using my infinity speakers with this system that uses 4 ohm impedance speakers? is that OK?

If there is a general info. on impedance stuff, i would love to see it.

Impedance in not level from 20hz to 20,000hz. It can be 2 ohms to 10 ohms across the frequency range. The 4 ohm value is an average. A speaker will approach a dead short at 4 ohms easier than an 8 ohm. The 4 ohm speaker is harder on cheaper amps.

But that's what it came with. I am just trying to use old speaker of 8 ohm rating with amp that came with 4 ohm speakers. Is that ok?
