Question Opinions re Paradigm Monitor 11 v6 Speakers

I am considering purchasing a pair of Paradigm Monitor 11 speakers. Originally looked at the Monitor 9 but thought I might want to move up to the 11's. These will be used approx 70% of the time in stereo. Would like to hear from some Monitor owners re their satisfaction (or lack of) with these speakers. Was also considering the Aperion 6T Towers but don't know if I want to purchase speakers from a company that only sells online. Also, are there any KEF IQ90 or Energy CF-70 owners willing to share their opinions re these models? Thanks!

The best thing for you to do is listen and judge for your self. That being said I have been drooling over the paradigm monitor 9's and doing allot of auditioning lately. The 11's are even better, they are just out of my price range. IMO Paradigm's beat the Pants of the Energy's. I thought they sounded kind of empty in comparison, I also audtioned some Kef i q30's which were pretty damn nice soundin but I thought the paradigm's sounded a bit more detailed, and smoother in the mid bass. Like I said you really need to audition for your self, but you are headed in the right direction for sure. Paradigm has won many many award's for a reason, and IMO give you the most for your money. Another brand you might want to check out is PSB.

Was definitely leaning towards the Paradigm Monitor 9's. I've listened to several of the other models mentioned but none of the audio retailers in my area carry more than one of these brands. You're left comparing them to Polk, Klipsch, and Def-Tech. Thanks for your Paradigm vote!

Agree 100% with caliberconst. I have had monitors for a couple of years now and couldn't be more satisfied with my choice - especially in 2 ch stereo with a good sub they shine and blend seamlessly. Not only are my current speakers paradigm monitors - my next ones will be too. Either the 9's or 11;s depending on your space to fill will certainly make you smile. ( I listened to them, boston, focal, def tech, B+W, and martin logans - B+w & martin logans I thought were on par w/ paradigm but nearly 3x the price and off axis listening on the martin logan's suffered IMO.

What center do you use? My available space for my center is limited. Do you think that the CC190 would work with the 11's or would it be better to team it up with the Monitor 9's?

I went with the 190 for space (and a little bit cost)- man I would love the 390 but it is huge/gargantuan. I have had no complaints at all w/ my 190 - my room is appox 20.5' X 11.5' x 8' and it is more than enough. I have my receiver governed at ~70% and usually don't go above 58-60 or hearing loss would result. I think the 190 is fine as long as you adjust/balance your speakers properly. If you have the space and can swing it I would go with the 290 w/ the 11's and the 190 w/ the 9's. The 190 is no slouch and not small - it replaced a cinema 110 which seemed puny in relation. All the monitors are 3 way crossed well - just the number of drivers changes.

I agree the 190 is no slouch and very hefty. The 190 is not the IDEAL center for the 11's, but will definitely do the job. Now the 290 is not way bigger than the 190, but it is definitely bigger.

The CC290's dimensions indicate that it's exactly the height that I have available. Length is not a problem. I'm going to try it. If it fits, I'm going to go with the Monitor 11's.

I would suggest going used. So much to be had on the used market these days.

This would be a nice step up for pretty much the same money: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls....60-V5-Perfect-

This may be a bit late, but i have owned the monitor 11's for over three years and the cc390 for about a year and a half. When you first play them out of the box, you want to return them or shove broken glass in you ears; same result. After some long ours they start to sound somewhat normal. DO NOT buy these if you like lush, sweet musical speakers, as these are the polar opposite. I have them hooked up to a Denon 4800 via $1500 dollars worth of bi-wiring. Also, using oppo blue ray player, expensive interconnects, upgraded power cord on the Denon, etc. Basically, everything I could think of. If these were my first speakers, I probably wouldn't mind. But after owning mirage M1's, b&w 805's, musatex melior ones, etc, i cannot live with these speakers any longer. I am currently picking up a pair of older infinity rs2 b's. Hello sweetness, bye bye organized kindling

IMO you must be hearing impaired, Paradigms sound very sweet on music especially rich through the midrange - I find them to be very similar to the B+W 805's which is what I considered vs my paradigm but for sound vs price Paradigm was a much better value
