The front bookshelf speakers are right at ear level with the center slightly above ear level, but tilted down toward my head. The center speaker is directly under the TV and the 2 front mains are angled in towards my head, too.

Distance apart on the front main is 7 feet and the same with the side surrounds.

I have thought about putting in 1 ceiling speaker in my SMALL 12 X 8 area, to see if any more effect.
I recommend either using a SPL meter to level test tone volumes or using Audyssey /MCACC (whichever your unit has) to get sound levels accurate. You can also then adjust toe in or toe out on your front main speakers to adjust the depyh and imaging of your sound stage.

Yes, my Denon AVR has all the Bells and Whistles incorporated for AUTO sound speaker balance w subwoofer.

This is an old thread with little comment and thought I would bring back to life, with my detailed set-up with a bookshelf 5 speaker set-up, for my size room.

When using the Denon for internet radio or TV Internet Roku Pandora music, for example, the sound of music is wonderful to my ears, when the AVR is set to "Multi-Channel."
