Default dolby 4.0 vs PLII?

so i was watching the movie edward scissorhands on dvd today and i noticed that it offered dolby digital but it was only 4.0, this is the first time i've seen something besides 5.1 on a dvd. with a 4.0 track you are actually getting sound for the 2fronts, center, and 1 channel that is shared between the surrounds right? so my question is, would i be better off using the stereo track and using PLII so i get 5 channels and and some sub action? or would the 4.0 track still be better?

Default Dolby PLII

Try it both ways and see which you prefer. I have found that with older movies such as this, the sound formats vary, and I just experiment to find which setting I like best.
