Default Send IR signal to another room

is there a small device that I can send an IR signal to another room so I can control it with a remote?

I want to be able to control my satellite receiver from the main living room and in another room.

Is this possible?

IR or Infrared is the most common remote method used. There are repeaters and extenders. You can also have it converted to rf-radio freq. the newer DTV DVR's are RF. it goes thru walls.
anyway, here are some ideas:

RF is great, however I would like to use my Harmony 650 on my Directv receiver and it only does one or the other (IR or RF). I have an "out" going to a different room.

If I could do RF and IR at the same time (like the Hopper) my problem would be solved.

but it can't and there is still a year left on contract before new equipment, so i'm trying to find an alternative

One of the items in Quad's link will work for you. Converts your IR to RF and back to IR in the other room.
