Default Fan Noise!#%*

Every forum I've read talks about tiny visual artifacts, rainbow effects, some variations in color...etc. But what about fan noise. I bought and returned the LG 52" DLP (superb picture and esthetics) but the fan drove me crazy. I'm waiting delivery on the JVC D-ILA, but have read noise complaints on these too. None of these sets are audible in the showroom but, when you get them home...
Are they all like this? Why do people care more about small visual details when the most obvious annoyance is fan noise?

From what I've read here on DLPs, the Toshiba's are very quiet, and Samsung's seem to be quiet as well. The Mits on the other hand are noisy wee buggers. Not much info on the Pannys.

Interesting question, people will always notice picture flaws first and foremost when looking at a picture...

I too returned a DLP, the Mits 62525 for fan noise and to make matters worse the fan never turned off. Bought the Sony KDF-60XS955 LCD. Quiet as a church mouse.

I have tried to see rainbows and hear the fan or light wheel on my TV...to date...NO ISSUES!

So I'm either blind, deaf, both, or pleasantly surprised to get a good unit.

Default Panasonic Noise

I totally agree on the Panasonic fan noise. I went through two 50" DLPs from Panasonic and just could not live with the fan noise. Bought a Samsung 4674 DLP and cannot hear the fan at any time. I love this tv.

panasonic fan noise is unbelivably loud!

i will call the technician to have a look at it because the show room model from where i purchased it from doesn't make as much noise

It is known that there were a few bad shipments of fans (so says several service techs I talk to.) It's just simply a couple of thousand of bad fans that were manufactured to keep up with demand. As the old economy saying goes: "Quantity goes up, quality goes down..." These manufacturers had probably got a shipment of bad fans, very possible as I have dealt with this myself on computer cooling fans (which are no different than the ones used by DLP, LCD projection, plasma televisions, etc.) Buy one, turns out to sound like a diesel engine, by another the same model/make/same store..as quiet as a church mouse...

Default Fans, fans, fans....

All of these TV's have fans and fans make noise. TURN UP THE VOLUME!
Anyway, they all make noise Pan, Tosh, Mits, Sam, JVC...the thing is if it makes noise all the time then you have a bad one, the Mits has 5 fans!!! It has one that runs all the time but you shouldn't hear it unless you are listening for it.

Yes. Bulbs need constant cooling.

I had the Panasonic PT-43LC14, but returned it because of loud FAN NOISE. Exchanged it for the Sony KDF-42WE655, no fan noise at all. Go with this series LCD RPTV, amazing HD picture and no FAN NOISE.

Also, I think Toshiba DLP has no fan noise too.
