Some of you know I traded in my Samsung DLP for a Panasonic LCD last week.
Afterwards, I read of issues with the bulbs in many Panasonics. They blew within a year, sometimes less. I asked about it here, and was assured all RPTVs have some issues, and Im only hearing about the bad side of the Panasonic, most people dont talk about the good. My bulb just now blew out, and it is only 6 days old. This is going straight back to the store. Never again, Panasonic. |

I'm not a fan of Panasonic TV's but to return a TV because the bulb blew is fairly insignificant, especially when Sony (and a few other mfr.) have had the same problem in the past with the bulbs in their rp lcd tv's.
If the tv has a defective bulb, then it's covered by the warranty. Have the bulb replaced and enjoy your hdtv! Unless there are other issues with the tv. |

Things tend to break when they are very new or very old. It's a curve and one case of a burned out bulb ( covered by warry ) doesn't make a class action law suit unless your a hungry lawyer.
I just got a Panasonic CRT ( CT-26WX15 ) and so far I'm impressed. Lets see how it does. |

I recently purchased a Panasonic LCD Projection 44LCX65 from CC at a 1 day special price of $1295.00. This was after looking at several reviews on several different manuf. There seemed to be more complaints on the Panasonic bulb than others. Replacement cost is around $300.00. However Panasonic Warranty is 18 months on the bulbs. I don't believe any other manuf. offer more than 12 months ?

Yes, there was a piece of paper taped to the back of the unit explaining the 18 month warranty on the 1st bulb, 12 months on the replacemeent.
However, I think a bulb blowing after 6 days is absolutely rediculous. For any TV, known issues or not. No way am I spending that kind of money to then have to spend Christmas without it because Im waiting of a repairman to come fix it. Especially after reading so many horror stories on amazon and various other forums. There is a petition concerning this. My problem was not an isolated incident. |

Superman,
Given your situation I also would have returned the TV. You gotta wonder if there is some sort of assembly problem where the bulb is being handled improperly (use a soft cloth and do not come in direct contact with the bulb) or if they are just defective to begin with. Any way, I was aware of the problems before I bought it, and the bulb is easily user replaceable. But at the price I paid for the TV I'll was willing to take that chance. Also the CC 30 day satisfaction warranty will come into play if the bulb blows out within the 30 days. Thanks for the Petition web site. I knew it existed but couldn't find it. |

I think you should return it. I would be afraid that its "possible". its not the bulb, but a design flaw that too much voltage is being fed to the bulb causing them to blow early. I do not know this for a fact, its just something I would worry about if I owned the television.

I have a toshiba 62hm195 the picture rocks and I have it on high bright lamp. I know it may blow sooner but I dont give a hoot. I bought the mack bulb warr. which gives me 2 bulbs and toshiba gives me 1 bulb in the 1yr. I plan on useing 3 bulbs and getting the max out of my TV. I was watching Discovery HD last night and my mind was totally blown away. Its worth every painfull bulb penny.
