sony KDS R60XBR1 video problem-HELP!!
I am having video problems with the Sony tv. I had directv out to make sure it was not in the directv receiver. We changed on HDMI cables, etc.
He said it was in the tv itself. I am getting audio but the video is all squiggly lines. Can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what I can do to fix it. Thanks

Did you have any power outages or surges?
Was there a lightning storm in your area?

If anything like the possible problems above occurred then the power supply circuitry may be damaged.

Or the power supply filter caps may be drying out, this would cause excessive AC ripple into the main circuitry.

To see if this is the problem the unit must be opened up, and the caps in the power supply circuit need to be inspected.

If any of the electrolytic caps that look like little metal cans have a bulged up top or a split top then the power supply circuit needs to be repaired or replaced.

Here is a photo to help you look over the caps in question.

Have you tried un-plugging the set from the AC power source for about ten min or so and see what happens?

Can you try another HDMI port, or have you tried this already?

And did you have any of the power problems I mentioned in my first post?

Is the TV set plugged into a power strip?

If so then try it directly into the wall.

Did you add anything new to the system, like an audio receiver or DVR/DVD/Blue-ray player?

And lastly, how old is the set, and have you ever changed the lamp since you bought the set?

If possible can you take a screen shot of the video problem and post it here. (you may need 3 more posts to be able to do this)
