Default WD-73838 help

Hello,

I just joined. Two questions on Mitsubishi WD-73838 DLP

I need OEM part number for the fan that is right in the middle of unit, once service panel is removed, on back of optical (I think) group. It got full of dust and is now (once cleaned) making noise and not always starting. Thus the TV shuts down. I know I can just splice a new one in, but would gladly pay to have the OEM assembly with connector.

How difficult is it to clean the optical section of these units. I had seen some Utube stuff/videos on other units, but not this model. My TV has grown a bit dim over the years, 6 or more. I have replaced lamps, but it still seems dim. I had seen where cleaning the color wheel and some other optics, that seem like it might be the cure. What are the dangers and things to be aware of doing this?

I wouldn't mine buying a new LED unit, but its hard to give up on a big screen unit that still works.

If anyone can shed light, please do so.

Thanks for help

Ken

Most members here have moved on from DLP sets and hence they no longer post here. Sorry.

OK that figures. I guess I'm back in the old technology. I did find a manual on line. I just can't download it. But I can read it on line. Where I have been able to find the light engine for this, the cost is 1/2 the price of an OK 65" LED unit, 1/3 of good one. But WTH, I'm learning something about these units. If I can improve this TV, I'll keep it another year or so. That way pricing will drop on the latest and greatest stuff of today. It just seems a same that parts and repair knowledge are becoming obsolete on these.

Thanks for your reply anyway.
