Default KDF-55WF655 or the 55A20 ???

I have narrowed it down to these 2 models, any thoughts ideas concerns would be appreciated.

I plan on using for HD,dvd's, ps2, and reg tv. I am a football nut so can't wait to see for the season in HD.

Save some money and go with the JVC HD-61Z786.

Bigger, better, cheaper

I recently purchased the kdf 55 e series (a20). It works great. Sony tech support is great also. I purchased from onecall.com and had for two weeks. I couldn't get my hdmi port to work and called sony. sony troubleshooted over the phone and ticketed a local repair to come and take a closer look. Two days later, Sony manufacturing department calls and stated they wanted more info on HDMI not working. Turns out, their was a problem with that specific HdMI port. So, the guy sets on another delivery to replace the whole TV. 3 days later, by freight, guy come and replace my TV with a new one. HDMI ports working fine.

With Onecall.com I saved about 500 bucks (no taxes and free shipping). Remember, the "E" series are an upgrade to the previous Sony HDTV KDF model (grayish looking tv) and has better brights. Picture looks much clearer and so far, no screen door problems. I play PS2 on their atleast 16-20 hours a week, sometimes more on weekends.

I'm not having any problems with sonys

BETTER- No screen door for one. Everybody I have talked to that has seen the JVC compared to the Sony says the D-ILA is much better. Had two friends trade in there sony wega's for them just last week. Everyone other D-ILA owner on this baord will tell you then same. Got to trust everyone else opinion on this one here.

Everybody has their own, which is how personal decisions should be made.

I would never trust your eyes to tell me what's better, nor expect you to trust mine.

this statement is so TRUE. i spent 6 weeks going in best buy & looking at every tv & every time i ended up in front of the Sony KDF-55WF655 & i'd tell my daughter "this is it". THEN i bought a issue of Sound & Vision & all 3 of theyre "experts" picked the DLP over the LCD. So the next day that i went back i knew was going to be the "buy day" & sure enuff because of what someone else had said i found myself getting ready to have them ring me up a 56" DLP, i had already spent over an hour with them hagglin about the price & right as he was starting to ring me up it hit me "if i go home with this TV because of what someone else said & am not a 100% satisfied i'll be very upset with myself & if i take the Sony LCD that i think looks the best & am not satisfied well at least i got WHAT I WANTED" i told that guy to stop i wanted the Sony(i thought he was gonna cry..lol), & after about another hour of talking down the sony price i got the tv I WANTED IN THE 1st PLACE & can say i havent regretted it one bit . So good luck picking out a TV YOU THINK IS NICE & YOU'LL BE HAPPY

In fact I think the last time and only time I trusted somebody else's eyes I ran into a wall...

The decision for me was not immediate. I really liked the Tosh DLPs too.
Better than the Samsung, but not by much.
Can't say I gave all the LCoS a fair shake. And that's not to say they did not look good. And I believe that technology could be the 'leader' regardless of who makes it...time will tell. It's a very dynamic industry, new things around every corner. But I picked what looked good to me.
I could go into 'reasons' but everybody has a different perception. That's why it's great to have to so many choices.

Default Sony "E" Series 55 inch

I also for months was considering purchasing the DLP. I visited BB, CC, and Sears, over and over. I compared the Samsung DLP, Hitachi DLP's against Sony LCD. Everytme I got in front of a DLP,the picture quality was excellent. I read up on DLP's and hit the boards for more information constantly, pertaining to "How it works with games? How long will it last? What was its downfall? What were the major concerns expressed by others? I researched and compared with LCD and JVC-Dila. The JVC was definitely out and the Hitachi lost favorability. My eyes became the overall judge. So, again I stood in front of Samsung DLP's and Sony LCD's. No matter what I thought of how Samsung seemed to be a better picture, the Sony just seemed more crisp in picture quality. Even the sales reps would refer the samething. Samsung may be a little cheaper, but no matter how many times I convinced myself to go ahead get the samsung, Sony just changed my mind.

Finally, I had enough. I called onecall when the new Sony "E" Series were out and on sale. I compared the price with every other seller and Onecall.com offered free shipping. Ordered on Monday, delivered on Friday. I'm satisfied. The picture quality is awesome. If I had a Samsung DLP next to it, I probably will look at the Sony even more. Samsung DlP's are great also, but theirs something about Sony that made me more confortable . You might want to check out warranties and customer services. I think Sony has the edge.

In closing, you be judge. Spend time considering and go with your gut feeling.

I had 4 different 52" JVC's, every one was defective one way or another. Got rid of the JVC for the Sony KDF 55, this is "by far" the better TV! Had it now since febuary 05, not one problem.

1-I was wondering why the sony 55 lcd model of last year has 2 hdmi inputs and this years-kdfe55 a20 only has one hdmi.

2-Also,does the 55-a20 have the black iris feature?

3-Will ther be a sony-55 with 1080p?

4-Does 1080p sets improve dvd's, or is 1080p just for improving HD broadcasts?

any help is appriciated.

?Woow....you should go to sony.com and do some research. Sorry I don't have those answers yet. But i can say this about hdmi. Unless you speed 1 or 2 thousands for an hdmi compatible receiver. you only need one hdmi port. two hdmi ports means you can hook up your dvd player and another hdmi device to your tv and get the best quality picture. I think sony went from two hdmi's to one hdmi because hdmi hasn't really hit its peak. And mostly, receivers on the market today, don't support hdmi. I've been looking and looking but very expensive surround receivers out there
