Default rca hd50lpw162 top and right shadow

I have a 4 yr old rca hd50lpw162 put a new lamp in last year.

Over the last couple of months a shadow at the top and right side has appeared. top shadow is about two inches the right side about 4 inches.

I can see the program being displayed under the shadows.

Anyone see this problem before?

thanks

No question this is a light tunnel collapse issue. It will need a new light tunnel if a competent tech will just replace that or a new light tunnel.

This has happened with many DLP brands and it happened with my hd50lpw162 as well. I had the extended warranty through Best Buy and they had to send it to RCA for a rebuilt light engine.

Hi,it does seem to be an issue with the light engine. It could be the dmd board this is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm So basiclly if some of those chips or in the off position or not working properly thats what it could be.It can also be that one of the mirrors in the light tunnel have moved or fallen off.Hopelly this helps,God bless you!
