Post LG HU85L 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector launch demo event at VE

Proud to announce that LG selected our company to be the launch partner for their new dual laser 4K HDR UST projector, HU85LA.

LG's first allocation is scheduled to arrive in our store this Thursday, July 25th and our launch demo event is scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd. Hope to see many of our HDF friends!

Just updated our HU85LA webpage with technical specs and more information.

LG HU85LAs are in the house! I had these air freighted in, the next shipment will arrive in a few days.

We'll get one set-up by the end of today in our new Salamander Designs HU85LA custom cabinet and SI ALR 110" screen.

Here's a couple pics from last night's demo launch event:

That's me in the center surrounded by LG's product managers from HQ and the LG's USA Sales manager for the custom install channel and distribution.

Here's a nice shot of two guests who were loving the HU85LA. We had the window treatment opened and all of the store lights on. The photographer exposed for the high ambient room light to get the proper exposure for the two people and not the image on the screen.

Here's 5 of our guests in our dedicated theater where we had a second HU85LA set up to show off how it performs in a dark room. Everyone who saw our 2nd HU85LA in our theater were wow'd by the awesome performance.

Seems to be much confusion on the other forum and thought it best to set the record straight. The question on regarding which TI DLP chip is being used in the HU85LA and the definitive answer is it's one of TI's .66, NOT the lower end and lower resolution FHD .47.

It's further being posted that LG's HU85LA is a 4 way e-shift technology, sorry but that's wrong again. LG's HU85LA is not flashing the DMD to emulate 4K or what some call FauxK resolution. Here's how this particular TI .66 DMD works:

This particular .66 DLP 4K UHD chipset deliver 8.2 million pixels to the screen (3840x2160) with over 4 million micromirrors (2716x1528) and 2-position optical actuator, bringing full 4K UHD resolution to the screen by displaying two distinct and unique pixels during every frame. It meets the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) 4K standard and is classified as 4K UHD.

Just to make it clear and simple to understand, each mirror is used in 2 positions to simultaneously create 2 projected pixels, totaling more than 8.2 million displayed pixels.

I explained this at our premier HU85LA demo launch event and it's also explained in SpareChange's Youtube video interview/presentation.

Can I use my Slate 5 series no edge screen with the LG Hu85LA? I was told you have to use a certain type of screen or you will lose quality with an ultra short throw projector

The advantage of using an UST ALR screen would when you use the HU85LA in high ambient light conditions.

We have two HU85LAs set-up in our showroom. One is in our main showroom in high ambient light with SI's UST ALR Black Diamond Zero Edge Pro screen. OUr second HU85LA demo is in our dedicated theater room that is absent of light and we're using a matte white 1.1 gain screen.

In the dedicated theater LG's HU85LA image is stunning and the one in high ambient light showroom with SI's UST ARL screen delivers a very acceptable picture that happily surprises everyone who sees it.
