Lightbulb How to choose a high quality mp3 player?

1. Consider the amount of storage available
2. Think about portability; if you have an active lifestyle then you will need a player that is small and compact.
3. Decide on the type of interface you want.
4. Examine how the device is powered.
Many MP3 players come with built in rechargeable batteries, whilst these are very convenient and can last for a long time, if you are not able to recharge them or don't have access to a computer with a usb port you then you will need to wait to charge the player up.

I might get killed for saying this in certain circles of people...but if you don't listen to lossless codecs, and all your digital music are in .mp3 and .m4a format...I really like my iPods...

Important Note: If you don't have iTunes then FORGET about an iPod...

Get an ipod touch if you can afford. It's worth it for all the other things you can do and the free apps. It's an iphone without phone.

Stick to the name brand MP3 players to ensure a good quality product, a fair warranty and even a generous return policy. Refrain from buying obscure brands unless you’re trying to boost that penny tech stock you got wrangled into.

My Creative Labs Zen Vision M (30 gb) has a very good sound to it just like the iPod my wife owns. There is a noticable decrease in sound quality when playing the same mp3 file and with the same earpods on the Creative Zen Mozaic (my son's mp3 player). Go figure!

I also use the Vision M to play vids. Does not play radio too well - disapointed.

One of the most important things that affect the sound is the bit rate, the bit rate is measured with Kbps and when that rate is higher than the file will be more similar to the original and the sound quality would be higher.

I have a Sandisk clip which is cheap, great sounding, small and very easy to use...for working out/running.

I have a Zune HD 16 GB for the other times (around the house, traveling, out and about town) as it has HD quality video, HD radio, a few apps...but I am not an app person...and cheaper than an ipod touch and it doesn't use iTunes which I dred!

Everybody has their personal preferences. Know what you will be using yours for, and how much you want to spend...

"high quality mp3" is an oxymoron.

No shit!! Same as watching that "hi-def" 3D on a 3" screen!! Parents - remember to introduce your children to some real music (analog preferred) and some real HD - before they consider their minny digital bullshit "high quality".

I still prefer to use my Zune2 80gb over getting a Zune HD 16 or 32gb...the Zune HD has some nice features, but I usually go for capacity. Can't believe the Zune2 80gb and 120gb are now much more expensive than the Zune HD's

I still have a Zune 30GB but find it bulky, and it was my daughters and pepto bismol pink...so I put a black case on it...I have that filled but find little use for it unless it is a long trip, but even then, the Zune HD is incredible...HD radio, the video playback, internet access to quickly check email, battery life and I have the HD AV pack that can travel with me and hook up to a hotel TV for movie playback in 720
