Default Advice on Placement of TV and Speakers: Newbie Alert !!

Hello, my Panny TCP50S1 will be delivered tomorrow, and need some advice about the placement of the TV and my surrounding speakers.

The attached are pictures of the layout of the room.

I am thinking of mounting the TV between the shelves and the metal entertainment centre - somewhere below the picture hanging on the wall. How should the TV be from the top of the small black stand occupied by the old TV, given also the position of the couches? (See the FrontalView pictures)

Secondly, I am thinking of placing the surround speakers on the rear wall, about 3 feet above the couch.... I heard that the surround speakers should be above the ear level, when standing up. Should this be about OK? (See the RearView pictures)

thanks in advance for your assistance....

Hi and congrats on your TV purchase!

Your idea on where to place the TV is perfect. It is recommended that you mount the tv with the center at about 48" from the floor so that the viewing angle when you are sitting down is comfortable for your neck (remember, you will sometimes be spending hours at a time watching TV, movies, games)

For speaker placement, it is "ideal" to mount the surrounds to the sides of your listening spot, slightly behind and roughly 3 feet up from your ear level when sitting in your "ideal" spot. So, instead of the back wall, I'd recommend going for the side walls, if you can.

I hope this helps and all the best!

Stewie

PS: Yes, I thought so too, so I will be using a Monoprice 3725 Mount to for the wall installation.

I think I get the idea: so you mean one of the surround speakers should go closer to the door frame and the other one go a bit towards the closet? Please see the rearview picture attached.. I have marked the spots on it. Do you think those spots marked "S" in the picture are ok....

Or do you think the speakers should go to the left and the right walls of the living room..when facing the front where the TV will be installed?

rgds, Punda
I hope this helps and all the best!
