After my HT-RC180s hdmi board failed, got it replaced as out of warranty fix & decided to upgrade to an 818. Fantastic avr! Hope it lasts considering all the Onkyo issues out there. I have all my outputs set to Audyssey DSX so whatever input there is for tv or blu ray etc it channels to all 7.1. Works for me.

With my channel trims and IntelliVolume setting for the "DVD" input, I can run most DVDs and Blu-rays under the "50" mark...
I have mine set to "Relative", power on vol is -45 & by mid morn I'm listening to SiriusXM or a cd at -15. Blu ray or dvd depends on the movie, most at -24. TV is usually -34. I have IntelliVol at +10. The 818 has a ton of adjustments which I like. Still working on the manual EQ settings for Audyssey tho.

Onkyo 806 130 watts pc, 7.1 but I use 5.1 and bi-amp my front Polks.
I've always had Onkyo products, a very nice Integra for 12 yrs until the center began exhibiting noise. I then bought a Denon off e bay that was nice, but lacked the Onkyo balls.
My Integra was $1000.00 new and had less than most of what this AVR has in features and it was only $100.00 more MSRP. They sure do pack these guys with goodies.
I am no audiophile, but with all this power it sure gets the subtle sounds out.

Hi All,
I have recently bought an Onkyo TX - NR 646 7.2 Channel Network A/V receiver. Any comments on the choice as I am very happy with it.

Onkyo receivers are full of features and generally do a fine job. As entry to mid level receivers they perform quite well. They used to have some issues with running hot, not sure if they still do but I would recommend making sure yours is in a well ventilated area. Other than that enjoy!

My 717 Receiver experienced loss of sound issues and qualifies for free repair or rebate. I'm considering the RZ-810 but can't find any comments about it in this thread. Does anyone own one and can comment on it?
