What is God's green earth does this have to do with HD? IMO, this kind of opinion has no place here.

One can blame and hold grudges to most any corporation for one thing or another.. Hey, let's boycott the US Military and/or for support ing Saddam Hussien (sp?), Osmab Bin Laden and countless other poeple and countries.

We need to boycott Boeing, Lockheed and all other aircraft companies for over charging the tax payer by billions...

We could go on and on.. but why? If you want to not do business with any company that has done bad things, better grow your own food, make your own clothes fro sheep you raised yourself, build your own house with hand made tools and from trees on your own property... you catch my drift...

As for responding to Chris G. (AKA Elmer FUD) Don't waste your time! His elloquent writing is still just negative hogwash to fulfill his personal agenda. He wants all HD DVD supporters, existing and past, to admit to him that they were wrong and he was right all along...

Perhaps you OLD farts would do well to learn to Get Over It - now that would be a sign of maturity worth some respect.

Well said. I am an "old fart" but I try to look at how things affect me and move on.

Ditto, and welcome to the "old fart's" club.

You've always written intelligent posts defending your position and if confronted with information that effectively countered your opinion, you would just abandon that thread and began again somewhere else in the hope that the opposing members would abandon the discussion and not follow you to the new thread.

And holding even the memory of a transgression perpetuated against our government over 20 years ago by a huge multi-national company (and was done by some soon to be fired executives) is just plain stupid.

Why don't we hold a grudge against all the Japanese companies, including Sony who in some way supported the fight against us in WWII?

We shouldn't because it is stupid to do so.

So Chris stop finding new ways to get back at the supposed HD DVD supporters and just try to make this forum a better less fractured place to visit.

Toshiba is not evil and probably not as much as Sony, but I don't hold their past against either of them.
Um just for the record, Sony had nothing to do with world war II. They were actually formed in 1945.

A quote from the Sony entry in Wikipedia reads as follows:

"In 1945, after World War II, Masaru Ibuka started a radio repair shop in a bombed-out building in Tokyo.[4] The next year, he was joined by his colleague Akio Morita and they founded a company called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K.[5], which translates in English to Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation. The company built Japan's first tape recorder called the Type-G."

Like I said, just for the record. History of Sony is actually a good read.

Toshiba on the other hand was formed by the merger of two companies established in 1875 and 1890. They merged to become Toshiba in 1939 and developed Japan's first radar system amongst other things.

Just for the record

This post goes beyond Blu vs HD DVD and if posters can't respect that then too bad for them.

Boy, ain't that the truth . . . but, it never was a Blu vs HD DVD post.

What it was, was a "why I hate Toshiba and always will" post.

Hell, as far as the OP is concerned, if Toshiba developed a cure for cancer, he wouldn't buy it from them to save his dying children.
That's how it started and that's how it's developed . . . response to insanity.
