I plan to buy the Cavalry CAXE3701TO when the price drops.
It was $239 at buy.co a couple of weeks ago before the price jumped to $317. Now the price is dropping again. I have read many have used this drive with the 8300 with much success. This 1TB drive will provide 125 additional hours of HD.
I currently use a Cavalry 500GD ext. drive with my desktop and it works flawlessly. Great looking too.

So is it possible to connect a pc to the dvr? there is a firewire connection in the back and the pc recognizes a connection but it seems like i am missing a driver. This looks like it can be done. Anyone know?

Hi all. I am attempting to revive this thread with a virtually the same question.

I have this DVR, and also a computer (PC). Is it possible to transfer files from the DVR to the computer (so I can eventually convert the files and then watch them on iTunes and my iPod)?

Thanks very much,

Steve

Default Displaying TIME on Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC

Attached to Comcast's cable network with Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC. The box is displaying its current actions -- PAU, REC, etc. I already know what it is doing. What I want the bod to do is to display the current time. If checked the set-up manuals with no success.

Does anyone know how to get this DVR box to display the current time as its default?
