IF you like. It will work fine. the output of the box to input on vcr. If hi-fi stereo, then red and wite. if not, just white, and yellow for video.

If your AVR can transcode the composite video input for HDMI output, then a single yellow video and red/white audio pair from the VCR to the AVR is all that you need.*

If you connect the VCR video direct to the TV and the audio direct to the AVR, then a single yellow cable to the TV and a single red/white audio pair to the AVR is what you will need.

Even if your AVR cannot transcode the composite video, you could still choose to run the video through the AVR. You would need to run yellow video and red/white audio from the VCR to the AVR. You would then run a second yellow video cable from the AVR to the TV.

(*The AVR manual will tell you whether it can convert composite video to HDMI.)
