What is your model #, does it have a usb port. At 10 years of age I doubt it - not really prevalent if available at all that long ago but ther eis a slim possiblity. Report back the make and model #.

its a yamaha RX-V620. if it had a usb port id be set. there must be a flash drive player, like a cd player. just plug it into the front digital optical. seeing as flash drives are the new cd it would make sense to have a flash drive player instead of a cd player. there a lot faster to load music on and smaller.

As I see it, what you need is a media player that can plug into your Yamaha and can have a USB drive plugged into that. The receiver is not a computer and can't decode and turn the ones and zeros on the USB drive into music. That's what a media player does.

Get yourself a low-dollar Android tablet that has a USB input, theres lots of them available. I'd look at getting one that can hold a micro SD card and transfer your music to that. Its much easier to handle.

USB's are so last year...micro SD is todays USB, well at least THIS week!!!
