What I meant was that when I put the receiver to an other mode (all channel, 5.1 surround , DTS etc) there is no audio. There is only sound when I set it to DIRECT mode. I know that that means that there is no processing.

It is not supposed to be like that because it was working before, it just stopped.

Believe me I RTFM.

Someone said that maybe the DSP IC needs to be replaced.

Anyone? Thanks

Okay, sorry that makes sense I misunderstood the problem.

So far the HDMI signal is stable, but the big test will come after work tomorrow (seems to be at its worst when everything is cold).

Thanks for all of the great information posted here.
Did you ever find a fix? Mine is doing the same thing. The fuse is blowing for no reason. Ive attached the following pics can anyone see what I am doing wrong or is the board fried. I did the fix and HDMI worked perfectly for a few hrs then the 12V fuse went again.

Hi ,
on my 667 I cannot get the PS3=>HDMI to handshake, unless waiting for a while.
Other devices on different HDMI inputs works, though and I have OSD when i go into setup mode. I'm tempted to attempt the cap replacement but I'm not sure if
the caps are the problems or something else more trivial.
Any hint, suggestion will be appreciated!

Just wanted to report that I went ahead and made the mod, 100u caps plus the 3 1u across the regulators and now everything works!

I wish I had found this earlier. I've been struggling with my HTR667 slowly getting worse an worse over the past year, when I stumbled across this information last night. I had the correct capacitors laying around, so I followed your advice and now everything works great. One difference though is that I only replaced the electrolytic caps--everything appears to be working properly though.

Thanks again!

Hi Sir, I have Onkyo TX-SR875 with same issue likes your Onkyo AVR. So how you solved your Digital Audio Issue of Onkyo Receiver? Mine 875 also act like same, audio works only in pure audio and Direct audio mode.
